The sign-in link Buildium emails you is fussy about where you open it. Here is the two-minute fix.
Buildium added a security check for sign-ins from a device it doesn't recognise yet, so you will almost always run into it the first time you sign in. After your password, it emails you a one-time sign-in link.
That link only finishes the job in the same browser, on the same device, where you started signing in. When you tap the button inside your email app, the app usually hands the link to a different browser than the one you started in. The link arrives somewhere it doesn't recognise, and stops.
Nothing is wrong with your account, and your rent balance is not affected.
The fix
Start signing in on the page below, and leave that tab open.
starlightpm.managebuilding.com/residentWhen the email arrives, press and hold the Sign in button until a menu appears, then choose Copy Link.
Do not tap the button. Tapping it is what breaks the sign-in.
Switch back to the browser tab you left open in step 1.
Paste the link into the address bar and go. You're in.
Do this within 15 minutes. Each link works once.
Or skip it entirely
Buildium does not apply this email check to the mobile app — it only affects signing in through a web browser. If you mostly use your phone, the app avoids the problem completely.
Resident Center — by Buildium
Free. Search for Resident Center in the App Store or on Google Play.
That link is a temporary password. Never forward the email, and never enter the link on any other website. Pasting it into your own browser's address bar is fine — that is the step above. If you receive a sign-in email you didn't ask for, you can safely ignore it.
